The Jenks Speaker Series
Join Gary Gilbert as he provides a comprehensive overview of these wonderful fungi in our ecosystem: from their necessary role as decayers and nutrient providers, to their role allowing nutrient transfer creating a communication system often referred to as the "Wood-Wide Web. This presentation includes a discussion about identifying varieties and a visual tour of the common ones we find in our forests. Feel free to bring in any mushrooms you may have found for discussion!
Gary Gilbert, an active member of the Boston Mycological Club, regularly teaches classes and leads walks in the Cape Ann ara north of boston. He began mushroomig in the 1980's as a member of the Puget Sound Mycological Society and regularly ravels the world foraginng and collecting mushrooms for identification. He also serves as an administrator of the Facebook "Mushroom Identification Page".
