About the Event
Join Mark Hopkins for his illustrated talk that centers on a remote town in the mountains of Honduras where American volunteers have helped its residents overcome the challenges of extreme poverty. Learn about their lack of education, poor health, polluted water sources, and an uncaring government. Follow the villagers’ progress as American doctors, teachers, and engineers work with them to overcome these issues. Documenting their many successes, Mark also discusses a new problem, climate change, and speculates its impact on the region’s future. Sponsored by a grant from the John and Mary Murphy Educational Foundation.
