Musical Tour of Frightful Things
Time & Location
About the Event
Over the centuries, composers have written music with the intention of scaring the listener, to send a chill down their spine and quicken their blood. Scary music exists in every genre: symphonies, ballets, folk songs, opera, and more. Come celebrate the Halloween season with Dr. Vartan Aghababian as he presents a guided listening lecture focused on the music that represents “the things that go bump in the night!” Dr. Aghababian is a member of the music theory and composition faculties at Boston University, MIT, the South Shore Conservatory, and the Winchester Community Music School. He teaches privately, lectures publicly, and continues to compose on commission. Sponsored by a grant from the John and Mary Murphy Educational Foundation.
