About the Event

Biblical scholar and archaeologist Nate Ramsayer returns to The Jenks to continue his seven-part series Understanding the Dead Sea Scrolls with the third installment. Feel free to join, even if you have missed previous sessions! The Dead Sea Scrolls were found in the 1940s and 50s, and the world has changed quite a bit since then. What kinds of technological advancements have been made in the last 75 years that can contribute to helping decipher these ancient texts? Exactly how old are they, and what methods are used to date them? What do we do with scrolls that are too fragile to open and reveal their contents—can anything be done to read them?

Sponsored by the John and Mary Murphy Foundation Grant.
