MetroView GPS App For IPhone And IPad (Free App Giveaway)
It’s been a long way coming to the review of this app. I’ve been planning to write about this app for quite some time now but couldn’t really get around it. As I use it often as call recording. So here it is. I’ll start off by saying, if you do not have a GPS app at the moment then you should buy this App, obviously this recommendation is for Australian iOS users only. Why do I make this bold statement? Read below to find the answer.
I’ve been an iPhone user since the first generation and I’ve used (sort of) all the GPS apps out there, TomTom, Navigon, etc. While all of them do a magnificent job, their cost makes you reach the bottom of your pocket. I know that cost is still justifiable given a GPS device will cost a lot more and you’ll have to carry an extra device whereas, with a mobile app, you carry it with you all the time. So it’s a much better and smarter option. Now, what if you weren’t willing to pay that much for an app? Well, now you have an alternative. The MetroView GPS app is cost-effective and does the job and does it very well. You might say you get what you pay for and that might be true to a degree but I can tell you, if you’re looking for bang for your bucks then you can’t go wrong with this app.
Now, to the not-so-good side of the app. Personally, I didn’t like the look and feel of it for a few days but I got used to it after a while. Searching for an address could have been made a bit more intuitive but I can live with that. The one thing that bothers me a lot is that it doesn’t seem to advise alternative routes especially when there’s a toll road. You can turn on and off the toll road, but I prefer getting both options when I enter an address and make a decision on each occasion.
Other than the above “lackings”, the app seems to work quite well. The street name pronunciation is a lot better than a couple I used before. All in all, I think it’s the best buy for $14.99 AUD.
