About the Event
This 2015 movie depicts a young Irish immigrant lured to the promise of America and Brooklyn, New York in the 1950s. Despite an initial bout of homesickness and difficulty in the new land, Ellis Lace’s (Saoirse Ronan) prospects change when she meets an Italian American plumber. She must address tensions of wanting to return to family at home or remain in America with a new career and opportunities.
