Death and Dying 101

Rick Irving returns to the Jenks to tackle a frequently perceived “difficult” topic--death encompasses many aspects of our lives: sadness, memories, pain, relief, horror, beauty, terror, courage, loss, connection, remorse, forgiveness, disbelief and acceptance.  While death has much in common with life, it is often kept out of conversations—being the uninvited and uncomfortable guest.  That avoidance is odd for a part of our existence that all of us have experienced second hand, and all of us will experience first-hand.

In this two-session workshop and conversation, we will talk openly about death.  We will study its ways and impacts on us, and help us be less afraid and more prepared to handle the deaths of our loved ones.  We will explore how to be gentle and feel at peace about our own eventual death.
