Fakes, Frauds, and Forgers with John G. Kreifeldt

Join Mr. Kreifeldt to learn why 40% of the art in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is fake according to its former director, Thomas Hoving (1967–1977). Some of the reasons being, genuine works that become misattributed as something else; or works so extensively restored that little of the original remains; or works purposely made to deceive. John will examine a particularly notorious example of each of Hoving’s three types with lessons to be learned.
