Fraud and Scam Prevention

Join Winchester Police Department’s Community Resource Officer, Sergeant Mike DeRosa working with the Attorney General’s office for a panel discussion about preventing fraud and scams this new year.  As the population of older adults continues to grow, unfortunately, so does the number of individuals who fall victim to fraud and other financial crimes.  In fact, a growing number of fraud schemes have directly targeted this population in an effort to exploit some of society’s most vulnerable citizens.  In an effort to prevent future victims and spread awareness of this growing trend, the United States Attorney’s Office, in conjunction with federal law enforcement, is traveling to local communities to provide information and educate citizens on how to avoid becoming a victim of these crimes.
