About the Event
Join Barry Pell for a presentation on the Gullah Geechee, the African Communities on the Barrier Islands of the American South. He recently traveled to the barrier island and adjacent coast, where the Gullah Geechee people have lived for centuries. During this presentation, accompanied by his photography, he will discuss how they have preserved their African roots, heritage, and culture, while resisting pressures by developers for their valuable and pristine lands. Register to obtain a Zoom link. Sponsored by the John and Mary Murphy Educational Foundation.
