About the Event

Local author and Tufts alum Alison Simcox and co-author Doug Heath will discuss their gripping true-crime book, Murder at Breakheart Hill Farm, about a horrific murder that took place in 1900 and captured headlines in Boston’s newspapers for months. Doug is an environmental scientist and history researcher. He worked at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for 30 years protecting drinking water supplies in New England and is Vice President of the Saugus River Watershed Council and a member of the Friends of the Fells Stewardship Committee. Alison Simcox is an environmental scientist and writer working at US EPA as a specialist in air quality. In 1998, she was the second woman to receive a doctorate in Engineering from Tufts University.
