"Palestine During the Time of the Dead Sea Scrolls" with Nate Ramsayer

What was happening politically during the time people were living at Qumran near the shores of the Dead Sea? What was the Great Jewish Revolt, and how did it impact those living in this religious community? Are any of the Dead Sea Scrolls Christian in nature? Join biblical scholar and archaeologist Nate Ramsayer as we travel back in time through ancient historical writings to learn about Judaism during the Hellenistic and Roman Eras! Nate will introduce the various religious sects in Palestine and their relationship with the Roman Empire, and discuss the devastation wrought by the Jewish War. We will also look at the relationship between the scrolls and the early Jesus Movement which developed into Christianity.
