About the Event
In the Summer of 2019, many people began to fall ill with a condition characterized by difficulty breathing, progressing to respiratory insufficiency, and even death. Clinicians identified this outbreak of severe lung disease across the country. Not knowing its origin, doctors began to identify possible causes, including vaping. Join Dr. Drazen as he explores the timeline of this illness, who got sick, who died and its eventual resolution. Jeffrey Drazen, M.D. is New England Journal of Medicine Group Editor and Distinguished Parker. B. Francis Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Sponsored by a grant from The Cummings Foundation.
