About the Event
Random Family: Love, Drugs, Trouble and Coming of Age in the Bronx by Adrian Nicole LeBlanc: Come join a new book club at The Jenks in partnership with The Winchester Public Library that brings a new “slant”, applying a sociological and anthropological lens in discussion of books. Celebrating its 20th anniversary since publication, author LeBlanc immerses herself in the lives of several Bronx families ensnared in a web of poverty and despair. Social issues that permeate the book and impact its characters are prison systems, public housing, welfare dependency, teen pregnancy, and addiction. The author spent endless hours embroiled in the intricacies of their lives and survival, gaining insight and compassion of how the characters survive. Limited to 15 readers, registration required. Books provided by Winchester Public Library. Registration required on Jenks website or call to register.
