Sociological Book Club: Thursday, February 26 at 11:00 am:  Join Tony Corsentino of Winchester Public Library to discuss this month’s book selection “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett that was later developed into a blockbuster movie. Ms. Stockett’s premiere novel of 2009 reflects her Southern heritage and the scars of slavery and racism. The book depicts the lives of black maids who function as the driving force in raising children in white privileged households where they also toil with cleaning and cooking. The maids devise a devious plot to “get even” with their mistresses. This poignant and funny work of historical fiction was on the New Times bestseller list for over 100 weeks.
