Named by the New York Times as the number 1 book of the 21^st century, this novel describes an intense and complex friendship of two women outside of Naples, Italy through many decades. It touches on issues of social mobility, rivalry, friendship and education. Reviewers acclaimed that the book is an “uncompromising and gritty masterpiece”.
