Sociological Book Club, Thursday, September 24, 11:00 am: Tony Corsotino of Winchester Public Library will lead the discussion of “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End” by Dr. Atul Gawande. This 2014 non-fiction bestseller addresses end-of-life care, hospice care and suggests that medical care should focus on well-being rather than survival. Dr. Gawande practices general and endocrine medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and teaches at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health.
