About the Event
Many famous paintings have gripping, sometimes shocking, sometimes humorous, backstories which are at odds with their appearances, making us see them with different eyes. Three of these: “Washington Crossing the Delaware” (no escaping destiny); “Nocturn in Black and Gold” (when art criticism becomes libel); and “Watson and the Shark” (their sympathies were with the shark) will be presented in three illustrated talks.
Sponsored by the John and Mary Murphy Foundation.
