JoinAnthony Sammarco as he explores Valentine’s Day traditions from Ancient Rome with the pagan festival of Lupercalia to Ester Allen Howland “Mother of the American Valentine.” An estimated 200 million valentines are sent each year in the United States. Mr. Sammarco is a noted historian and author of over seventy books on the history and development of Boston, and he lectures widely on the history and development of his native city. He commenced writing in 1995, and his books , , and have made the bestsellers list. He teaches the popular course at the Boston University Metropolitan College.
