About the Event

The wild turkey, synonymous with Thanksgiving and iconic within our region, has not always held such a stable place in Massachusetts. There was a time when turkeys were overhunted nearly to the point of extinction. Thanks to a reintroduction program begun in the 1970s, turkeys can now be found throughout the state in urban, rural, and suburban areas. In this program, Kim Baker, the adult education coordinator for Mass Audubon’s Boston Region, will “talk turkey” about the nature, history, and conservation needs of these native birds.
