About the Event
Most of us remember Anthony Martignetti and the story of his mother calling, “Anthony!” as he ran through Boston’s North End before returning home to a plate of spaghetti. For many Boston families, Wednesday spaghetti dinners became a cherished tradition. This lecture traces the history of spaghetti from Naples, Italy, to Boston, where it became a staple of Italian-American life. It highlights the rise of pasta manufacturers such as Prince, whose factory in “Spaghettiville” helped shape the city’s culinary traditions.
Presented by Anthony Sammarco.
Sponsored by the Cummings Foundation Grant.
