About the Event

One of the reasons the Dead Sea Scrolls are so famous is that they contain our oldest copies of biblical books. Has the Bible we read today changed at all since the time of Jesus? If so, how different is it? How many new texts outside of the Bible are found within the Scrolls? Join biblical scholar and archaeologist Nate Ramsayer as we finally get a chance to look inside the Dead Sea Scrolls to see what they contain! Nate will introduce texts from a variety of genres, and we’ll read excerpts together of both biblical and non-biblical material, such as apocryphal writings, sectarian documents, prayers, calendars, etc. This will be the fourth in a seven-part series this winter at The Jenks titled Understanding the Dead Sea Scrolls. Feel free to join, even if you have missed previous sessions!

Sponsored by the John & Mary Murphy Foundation.
