About the Event
“The Colonel” is the story of William Parsons Winchester. It chronicles the Winchester family from their first ancestor in Boston in 1625 through their successful businesses, and to William meeting the King of France as “The Colonel”. The portrait of William Parsons Winchester that emerges is an educated and wealthy, but generous, man. A film by Peter Engeldrum, who also created “Winchester’s Ghost Railroad”, it poses such questions as, “Why was he called the Colonel?”, “How did he make his money?” and “Why did he give his money to the town of Winchester?”
